Istanbul Technical University (ITU)

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) is one of the world’s oldest technical universities with a long history of 250 years. ITU offers 39 graduate programs at 13 faculties, 39 postgraduate and doctoral programs at 6 institutes on five different campuses, all of them located in the heart of Istanbul.
Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in 1944 and currently offers three programs in three departments. Department of Electric Power Engineering conducts research in the areas of energy development & power generation, power transmission & distribution networks, high voltage techniques and electrical machines & power electronics. With its 31 full-time academic staff and 20 research/teaching assistants, the department offers strong programs for 848 undergraduate and 309 postgraduate students.

Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering (INESC TEC)

The Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science – INESC TEC is an Associate Laboratory with more than 30 years of experience in R&D and technology transfer. Present in 6 sites in the cities of Porto, Braga and Vila Real, INESC TEC incorporates 13 R&D Centres and one Associate Unit with complementary competencies, always looking to the international market.
INESC TEC brings together more than 725 researchers, of which more than 350 have PhDs, forming a robust cluster with complementary skills and with notable international presence. INESC TEC invests in Scientific Research and Technological Development, as well as in Advanced Training and Consulting, Technology Transfer and supports the Establishment of new Technology-based Companies.
The research units promote the transfer of technology and knowledge through the launch of spin-off companies. Its main areas are power systems, reliable software, telecommunications and multimedia, information and computer graphics, embedded computing systems, advanced computing, applied photonics, biomedical engineering, robotics, business systems, engineering and industrial management and innovation, technology and entrepreneurship.
The activity at INESC TEC is executed under the knowledge paradigm for the productive chain of value: knowledge and results generated in fundamental research are usually incorporated into technology transfer projects and, therefore, they receive social relevance. The existence of an Innovation and Technology Transfer Unit guarantees the effectiveness of this model.
