Why Gamification?

Gamification gains popularity in recent years, with growing literature and expanding areas of use. Gamification can be briefly described as using game design elements and game
mechanics in non-game contexts. It is a term that has been used since 2008 and gained popularity after 2010. Although gamification has been
mostly adopted by digital services and products, its areas of use are much wider.

In engineering applications, gamification is not preferred only for customer engagement and motivation, but also for operational success through behavioural change, long-term performance analysis, customer segmentation, improvement of skills and abilities.
